AERI is responsible for positioning Alberta for the future in energy and in the development and implementation of the Alberta Energy Innovation Strategy.
AERI supports the strategy by investing with industry and other organizations in research and technology development in six program areas: bitumen upgrading, clean carbon/coal, improved recovery, renewable and alternate energy, CO2 and emissions, and water use.
AERI is no longer accepting applications or pre-applications for funding. AERI is in the process of transforming into a new provincial corporation called: Alberta Innovates – Energy and Environment Solutions. Once the transition is complete, applicants will be directed to the new website (currently under development).
Organizations developing Alberta’s resources are eligible to apply to AERI for funding for the development of novel research and technology solutions that will help sustain and grow Alberta’s economy while improving environmental performance.
Before applying for funding from the Research and Technology Program, applicants are encouraged to read the 2009-14 AERI Strategic Business Plan (pdf). A thorough understanding of this plan will help you decide if your project application fits AERI’s mandate and strategic goals.
